| Industrial Hygiene and Safety Industrial hygiene is the science of protecting people’s health through the control of the work environment. It encompasses the total realm of control, including recognition and evaluation of those factors of the environment emanating from the place of work which may cause illness, lack of well being or discomfort either among workers or among the community as a whole. ETC’s Industrial Hygienists are competent, qualified individuals educated in engineering, chemistry, physics, medicine or a related biological science. ETC’s Industrial Hygienists’ abilities encompass three major areas: 1) recognition of the interrelation of environment and industry; 2) evaluation of the impairment of health and well-being by work and the work operations; and 3) the formulation of recommendations for alleviation of such problems. ETC believes that a good Industrial Hygienist has the ability to identify potential or real problems; but more importantly, that a great Industrial Hygienist has the ability to solve those identified problems. ETC's field experience and knowledge of safety standards makes us better qualified to: - Investigate indoor air quality (Sick Building Syndrome, Building Related Illnesses).
- Perform mold investigations and remedial actions.
- Develop company safety programs and committees.
- Write site safety and health plans, work plans, spill response plans, and sampling plans.
- Prepare respiratory protection, hazard communication, confined space entry, and lead compliance plans.
- Prepare written specifications for construction activities.
- Serve as site safety officers.
- Conduct safety meetings.
- Perform lead and asbestos surveys, air monitoring, and design activities.
- Locate subsurface utility lines with advanced toning equipment.
