ETC’s Solid & Hazardous Waste Management services include: -
Identification - The identification process is an essential part of waste management because the level of government regulations (and subsequent costs) regarding the handling and disposal of a waste varies depending upon the type and quantity of the waste. ETC minimizes the time and expense associated with identifying the waste. If necessary, field testing (HazCat) and laboratory analysis are also performed. -
Packaging and Consolidation - Pending completion of the identification process, ETC specialists determine the proper personal protective clothing and equipment necessary to safely handle the waste. Other safety considerations such as chemical and container compatibility are determined to minimize the probability of toxic and dangerous reactions. ETC will package all waste in DOT specification containers. -
Transportation - Proper labels, markers, placards, and shipping papers (e.g. bill of lading, uniform hazardous waste manifest, land disposal restriction notifications) will be prepared. Waste will be transported to a government-approved recycler or treatment, storage, disposal facility. -
Treatment and Disposal - Waste is disposed in accordance with applicable government regulations. Disposal technologies include recycling, reclamation, bioremediation, thermal heat desorption, detoxification, stabilization, solidification, landfill, oxidation, incineration, fuel blending, and/or neutralization. -
Transformer Draining and Flushing - ETC possesses dedicated PCB equipment to drain and flush transformers that will be retrofilled or retrofitted. Work is performed in accordance with TSCA regulations. -
Emergency Chemical Spill Response - Cleanup costs associated with unexpected chemical releases can be very expensive. It is important that the effects of a release be mitigated as soon as possible. ETC's spill response equipment and materials enable us to mobilize within minutes to any job site throughout Hawaii. |
